Honest Tech Services, LLC .
When I launched Honest Tech Services in 2022, my ambition was to create a people-first technology company that could support businesses of all sizes and households across Humboldt County. I came in with a strong background in networking, troubleshooting, and IT services, but I was too ambitious and stretched myself too thin. Over time, that pace, coupled with rising expenses and California insurance rates, made it unsustainable to keep the business running in its original form.
While I didn’t “learn” technology itself through this journey, I came to appreciate more deeply the human side of IT work: the patience it requires, the trust clients place in you, and the way technology quietly underpins people’s livelihoods. Supporting a family-owned store through a point-of-sale outage, keeping a vessel’s systems dependable at sea, or making sure a home network simply worked so kids could do their homework — these are the moments that defined Honest Tech.
Closing a business is never easy. For me, it came down to sustainability. Rising insurance premiums and overhead were eating into productivity and profitability, while spreading myself too thin reduced the quality of what I could deliver. Rather than let Honest Tech drift into burnout or compromise, I chose to close this chapter intentionally and with gratitude.
Though Honest Tech Services , I’m not stepping away from the work entirely. I will continue to support existing managed service clients on a contractor basis if they wish. Beyond that, I am currently seeking new employment opportunities where I can bring the same dedication, technical expertise, and people-first approach.
To everyone who trusted me, from local entrepreneurs to families to professionals out at sea. Your support and patience turned Honest Tech Services into a meaningful chapter of my life. I’ll carry the lessons, experiences, and relationships from this work into everything I do going forward.
